Terminal boxes and take-offs that are closer to the supply fan and thus have higher pressure available should be sized as small as possible. Similarly, terminal boxes and take-offs farther from the fan should be larger. For example, 90-degree take-off fittings are often appropriate close to the fan, whereas, for terminal boxes located at the far end of the system where pressures are lower, 45-degree take-offs are more appropriate.
