Mini-pleat filter

The mini-pleat filter design configuration increases a HEPA filter's energy efficiency. The aluminum separators that give the filter media support are eliminated, thus reducing pressure drop. The mini-pleat filter works best with an air velocity of 250-300 fpm, which is desirable for energy-efficient design but is low compared to conventional rules of thumb. [McIlvaine, 1992]

According to Robinson (1999), "ůmini-pleat box filters are replacing separator type box filters used in VAV systems. These new mini-pleat filters have much lower resistance, have a lifespan of between two and three years, provide lower energy costs, and are the lowest cost filters to operate over the filter's life. These filters also reduce the size of the filter and in new applications can reduce the cost and size of the filter housing." [Robinson, 1999]
